Sewing thread tension is important in the textiles and garment production and must be controlled properly in order to get a high quality seam. Either too low or too high thread tension will result in incorrect seam from the sewing machine. In addition, for the fabrics and thread, it is important to have the right and a constant thread tension, otherwise, the apparel product will be of bad quality due to improper seam.
How does it work
The sewing thread first must pass through all thread guiding rollers to obtain a pre-tensioning value. Low thread tension is equivalent to a perfect seam and trouble-free stitching. A correct or an optimum tension requires no more than 175g (or 175 cN) tension. If sewing thread tension is, for instance, of 350g (350 cN), it is regarded too high for sewing and that the seam quality will appear poor.
Complete Kit
The DX2 Tension Meter is supplied as a complete kit including meter and instruction manual in a foam-fitted hard-plastic carrying case.
Memory Pointer (code M) is an optional accessory. The code M mentioned in DX2-400-M includes Memory Pointer, which is an optional accessory but not mandatory. Memory Pointer (M) is served to mark the peak value of the tension in the course of measurement.
